Angel Cannon is the second person to be charged in the death of a 6-year-old Cleveland, Ohio girl who was shot in the head while having a sleepover with her sisters and cousins.
According to PEOPLE, Cannon, 22, faces one count of aggravated murder and has pleaded not guilty.
Her bond was set to $250,000.
On October 5, 2019, Lyric Lawson and five other girls slept on a mattress on the living room floor when 22 shots were fired in the home. The house was targeted to “intimidate” a man who survived a shooting two weeks prior.
Authorities told Cleveland.com that the man had been living with the girl’s family but had moved out before the shooting took place.
“If I knew our safety was at risk, I wouldn’t have been in that house, our kids wouldn’t been there,” Lyric’s aunt Deirdre Selmon told 19 News.
Raysean Howard, 21, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals a month after Lyric’s death. He was found hiding in the attic of his father’s home in Tennessee at the time of his arrest. He also entered a not guilty plea and will stand trial in April.
On Tuesday, authorities announced that Cannon was the driver of the vehicle during the drive-by shooting.
