A Florida woman was found dead on the side of the road after being mistakenly targeted in a murder-for-hire plot.

The body of Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres was discovered Monday morning by a utility worker after being reported missing by her family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson said in a news conference Friday that the suspects targeted the 42-year-old due to a case of mistaken identity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I get emotional because it just touches me so deeply that one of our citizens was killed in such a manner over mistaken identity,” Gibson said. “In the end, it appears to be a lover’s triangle.”

Investigators report that Ishnar Marie Lopez-Ramos wanted to murder a woman who was involved with a man she was also dealing with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
To take care of her dirty work, she hired Alexis Ramos-Rivera and his girlfriend, Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, to kill the woman. However, the plan went left when the couple mistook Zengotita-Torres for their target and abducted her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both women, the target, and Zengotita-Torres, worked at the local Ross Dress for Less.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
The suspects followed Zengotita-Torres out of the store and to her apartment where they “forcibly put the victim into the back of her own vehicle, and then drove away,” said Gibson.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
The kidnappers then allegedly forced her to give them her debit card and information so they could steal money from her account.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Detectives believe that the culprits did realize that their victim was the wrong person but “continued with their plan of murder and tied the victim with zip ties, and then her head in duct tape and garbage bags,” Gibson said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Zengotita-Torres’ cause of death was suffocation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
After dumping her body, Ramos-Rivera and Montes continued to use the debit cards prompting authorities to start trailing their activity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
After a series of transactions, police caught Lopez-Ramos, who led them to the other suspects.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
“All three confirmed this was a murder for hire and that the victim was mistakenly targeted and murdered,” the Sheriff said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ramos-Rivera, Montes, and Lopez-Ramos have all been charged with first-degree murder.
