Woman Found Beheaded on Sidewalk; Man Believed to be Boyfriend Arrested and Charged With Second-Degree Murder

A woman was found beheaded on a sidewalk in Shakopee, Minnesota after cops responded to a call where someone said they saw a man throw a headless body out of a car. When police arrived, they found the body of a 55-year-old woman identified as America Mafalda Thayer next to a car and her detached head nearby.

Several people witnessed the incident and described seeing a man swinging an object near the passenger door and then dragging what looked like a body out of the car and walking away.

Police searched for the man matching a description of the suspect in addition to potential evidence. They ended up finding what seemed to be a sheath for a large knife in a nearby yard and a knife in a trash can in an alley. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Alexis Saborit, was located and taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder in connection to the woman’s brutal death. Saborit is believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, as the arrest warrant indicates they were in a long-term relationship, and domestic abuse occurred in their relationship.

Saborit was booked at the Scott County Jail. He was previously convicted of multiple misdemeanor charges, including a domestic assault charge in 2017.
