The search for a missing woman, Tara Savannah Payne, has come to a tragic end with the discovery of her body in a Baltimore harbor.
The 26-year-old was last seen on Tuesday celebrating her birthday alongside friends in Canton, Baltimore. At some point during the night, Payne was separated from her group. After being reported missing, authorities traced her disappearance back to the Boston Street section of Canton and Payne, where they believe Payne slipped into the water. Her body was located Thursday. Homicide detectives are assisting with the investigation as a precaution since she was a missing person.
Her father, Jimmy Payne, told Baltimore CBS that the discovery of his daughter’s body felt “surreal.” Jimmy is a former Baltimore firefighter who has helped rescue people from the same area in the past.
Payne’s cause of death is still unclear, though an autopsy has been scheduled.
