Police were called after three boys were found walking the streets of Texas in the middle of the night, telling police, “mommy is dead” in their apartment.
At 3 a.m. on Tuesday, police in San Antonio found the children wandering around Houston Street.
The San Antonio Express-News reported that the children, who were aged 4, 5, and 8, told the officers, “mommy’s dead, and we’re looking for daddy’s house,” and that there was blood all over the place.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the 8-year-old rode with officers to direct them back to their apartment while the younger children were taken to a nearby gas station for snacks.
According to KSAT, when police arrived at the scene, they found blood in every room of the Roseville Apartment and a wounded 31-year-old in the bathtub.
“Based on the amount of blood in the home, officers initially expected to find someone dead,” KSAT said.
According to KENS, she had stab wounds to her stomach and legs and was conscious but uncooperative.
In the report, the station did not say if the woman had been attacked or had inflicted her own wounds. She was in critical condition when she was taken to the hospital but is expected to recover.
According to news reports, the boys have been reunited with their families.
