Parents in a small Tennessee town are sickened to learn that a trusted community member had sex with multiple students in exchange for vape pens.
Melissa Blair of Englewood was arrested on Tuesday and hit with a mountain of charges following a lengthy investigation. The school district received a tip in 2020 about sexual encounters that Blair had with multiple male students. The first incident was in April of 2020 when Blair had sex with a 16-year-old boy after initially contacting him using a social media app. She had at least four more sexual encounters with him through July 2021. After her first victim, Blair proceeded to have sex with at least eight more boys, all students at McMinn Central High School. To lure the victims, Blair offered them vape pens and other items.
While the 38-year-old was not an educator, she was involved with the school’s booster club. Blair also had a child in the school system who has since transferred.
One of the victim’s mothers said that their entire family is experiencing “every emotion that you can imagine.”
Blair has been charged with 18 counts of statutory rape, four counts of human trafficking by patronizing prostitution, solicitation of a minor, and forfeiture of personal property. She was released on a $100,000 bond hours after her arrest. She will be arraigned on February 28th. Blair is prohibited from communicating with any of the victims and can’t go on school property.
McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy said that Blair would have to turn over her SUV to authorities as part of the investigation since it has been confirmed she had sex with the students inside the vehicle.
