An Ohio woman is facing animal cruelty charges for heinously killing her dog by leaving it in a hot vehicle.
On Saturday, officers responded to the home of 58-year-old Mouheb Ashakih after a neighbor requested help for the woman’s pit bull around 7:20 p.m. The neighbor told Sandusky Police Department deputies that he witnessed Ashakih place the dog named Chapo into the back of her car. When the neighbor told Ashakih to set the dog free, she stated, “I don’t care. I want him to die.” By the time officers arrived and broke the car window to rescue Chapo, he was dead and the car was destroyed and covered in blood from the dog trying to escape. It was 81 degrees outside at the time.
When officers arrived at the scene, Ashakih admitted that she put the dog in the car as punishment after it attacked one of her other dogs.
Her remaining animals, a 2-year-old dog and three 6-month-old puppies were removed from the home. The woman was booked into Erie County Jail on animal cruelty charges.
