A woman has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing and dismembering her boyfriend so that she could marry her biological father.
On Thursday, Amanda McClure, 31, appeared via video in the McDowell County Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the murder of John McGuire, 38.
“There was no good reason for John to have been killed,” Judge Ed Kornish said at the sentencing. “I’m going to make it 40 years, which is the maximum sentence I can impose. You serve 20 years.”
Her father, Larry McClure, was sentenced in August to life without the possibility of parole for his part in McGuire’s murder.
According to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Amanda’s sister, Anna Marie Choudhary, 32, is also facing first-degree murder for her role.
In February of 2019, the three allegedly killed McGuire together by hitting him in the head with a wine bottle, tying him up, injecting him with liquid methamphetamine, and then strangling him. They allegedly tortured him over the span of a couple of days.
McGuire was buried in a shallow grave on their property before being dug up, dismembered, and reburied at a different location.
Sometime after McGuire was killed, Larry McClure was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender and disclosed the location of McGuire’s remains. The remains were located on September 24, 2019.
On November 4, 2019, Larry wrote a letter to authorities confessing to the crime. He fingered Amanda as the ringleader in the plot to kill McGuire.
Amanda and Larry McClure were carrying on an incestuous relationship. Three and a half weeks after the murder the pair traveled to Virginia to get married.
Although Amanda is Larry’s biological daughter, she was raised by adoptive parents Allen and Gwen Holm.
