An Atlanta couple’s romantic date ended in violence Friday after the woman rejected the unwanted advances of a passerby.
Meairra Mansara and her boyfriend, Juwan Davis, were riding scooters on Northside Drive when they asked a man driving by to stop catcalling at the victim. The pair kept riding down the street in an attempt to get away from the man when he opened fire, local affiliate CBS46 reports.
“From the distance, I see someone go down…” Samuel Savage, an eyewitness, said. “It was really heartbreaking. She was screaming, she was crying, and she kept grabbing her phone trying to call her mom.”
One of the bullets struck the victim in her shin and shattered her tibia. The fire department rendered aid to Mansara until EMS arrived. According to Mansara’s mother, she will now have a permanent rod in her leg and need at least six weeks of recovery before starting physical therapy. Davis was not injured during the shooting.
This is still a developing story, and police have not released any additional details about the shooting. No suspects have been arrested.
