A woman reportedly has testified that an attorney representing Trey Songz’s sexual assault accuser offered her up to $200,000 to lie about the singer in the case.
The attorney is denying those claims.
The sexual assault lawsuit stems from a woman named Jauhara Jeffries, who claims Songs’z violated her at the New Year’s Eve party in Miami in 2017.
At a recent court hearing, a woman named Mariah Thielen testified she met Jeffries’ attorney, Ariel Mitchell, at a bar in Miami in April 2021 and said that Mitchell smelled of weed and had a gun.
Thielen, who was with Jeffries on the alleged assault night, claims Mitchell offered to pay her $100k to $200k if she would lie and say she saw Trey sexually abuse Jeffries and also claim that Trey had raped her.
According to Thielen, Mitchell tried to portray Trey as “the new R. Kelly.”
In a transcript, Thielen says Mitchell planned to take her allegations to Trey’s team in hopes of negotiating a monetary settlement; her lies would increase that amount.
Thielen maintains that she declined the offer, stating that she wouldn’t have lied for even $10 million and that she informed Trey’s legal team of the conversation shortly after.
“We’re highly confident and certain the court will find the witness committed perjury. Parties are still awaiting the judges’ further instructions on how to proceed given the witness’s inconsistent testimony during the hearing,” Mitchell said, denying the claims.
Mitchell’s partner, George Vrabeck, withdrew from the case, stating there were “multiple grounds for withdrawal” under the Florida Rules for Professional Conduct. However, Mitchell says that’s only because “He will be representing me against the parties involved in this disgraceful motion brought by Trey Songz and his representatives.”
Both Ariel and George recently resigned from a case in which they were attorneys for a woman who sued Chris Brown for $20 million and claimed he had raped her. Soon after Chris posted a string of texts and voicemails from the woman that gave the impression that they were friends, both withdrew from the case.
