Woman Wins $10M Virginia Lottery After Husband Gifts Her a Winning Ticket for Valentine’s Day

A Virginia man surprised his wife with the ultimate Valentine’s Day present: a $10 million winning lottery ticket.

The state lottery said that a few days before Valentine’s Day, Maria Chicas husband purchased the Extreme Millions Scratcher ticket at an In & Out Mart on Mathis Avenue in Manassas.

After finding out he had a winning ticket, the happy husband contacted his wife to share the good news.

Aw, you’re lying!” she told him.

She said, “I thought he was joking!”

He wasn’t kidding, however, and the ticket became the ultimate Valentine’s Day gift for his better half, who had an option to either take the entire prize over 30 years or take a lump sum of $6,570,302 before taxes.

The Virginia Lottery will award a bonus of $50,000 to the store for selling the winning ticket, the 4th and final top prize of the Extreme Millions Scratcher Game.
“It is the Virginia Lottery’s policy to end scratcher games after the last top prize is claimed,” the Lottery said.

There was a 1 in 2,937,600 chance of winning the top prize.
