Memphis Grizzlies Zach Randolph will not be facing charges for allegedly strangling a woman back in March. The L.A. County District Attorney’s office has tossed the case.
Back on March 24th, the victim, who claims she is a model, filed a police report with LAPD claiming that Randolph strangled her and caused bruising to her neck the day before. The woman also claimed to have sustained other injuries including a black eye, a sprained neck, sore ribs and bruises on her back.
However, now she’s singing a different tune.
According to official documents obtained by TMZ, the victim changed her story. During an interview with police on March 31st, she stated the two were in an argument but Randolph never touched her.
The woman said to officers, “she was upset and decided to file a fabricated police report and ‘just wanted to get his money.” She also signed a document admitting all this.
As far as the injuries, she states that after filing the initial police report, she and a friend drove around the corner from the police station and inflicted the injuries.
Sadly, she could’ve jeopardized this man’s entire career over her lies.
Hopefully Zach and his family can now move forward and put this behind them.
