Men can be victims too, but they often fail to realize abusive behavior and generally won’t report violence due to shame or embarrassment. To best protect your safety, here are a few signs your girlfriend may be abusive.
She’s emotionally unstable
Whether she told you she loved you on a first date, cries uncontrollably at random, or is severely insecure, she may have a personality disorder, which can have unhealthy consequences in a relationship.
She follows your every move
If she’s reading every email, checking your phone, going through your belongings, showing up unexpectedly or opening your mail, know that there’s a very small chance that you could ever get her to stop this behavior. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

She threatens to harm herself
One of the oldest tricks abusers use is trying to scare someone into obedience by threatening to hurt themselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She’s verbally abusive
If she calls you names, makes you feel worthless or perhaps blames you for everything, you’re experiencing both verbal and emotional abuse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She gets physical with you
Some women think it’s okay to hit a man under the premise that he won’t hit them back. Please believe women often use this to their advantage. Whether she’s pushing you, slapping you or hitting you, this should be one of the biggest signs that this is a toxic relationship. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She controls your money ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your girlfriend insists on controlling your finances, but in a manner that’s demeaning or threatening, it could be her ensuring that you are financially unable to leave her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You should never spend too much time in a relationship where any of these behaviors are being exhibited. If any of these signs are happening to you, recognize what’s going on, stop it, and stay away from them.
