It’s been over six years since XXXTentacion’s tragic and untimely death, yet controversy continues to swirl, now involving Drake.
Dedrick Williams, one of the men convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery in the case, is filing an appeal. In a dramatic twist, his petition alleges that the investigation failed to adequately explore XXXTentacion’s supposed feud with the Toronto rapper, suggesting that Drake could be a potential alternate suspect.
Williams’ attorney, Mauricio Padilla, is leveraging the long-standing conspiracy theories about Drake’s alleged involvement to create reasonable doubt. Speaking to Law & Crime Network, Padilla emphasized the defendant’s right to present alternate theories of the crime.
“A defendant has every right to defend himself, to show reasonable doubt wherever it may be, and to fully investigate and articulate to a jury an alternate shooter defense or an alternate defense where someone else committed this crime,” Padilla explained.
Padilla clarified that he isn’t directly accusing Drake of orchestrating the murder but argues that law enforcement’s failure to investigate this angle reflects a sloppy investigation. Despite the lack of concrete evidence tying Drake to the incident, the appeal injects new intrigue into the case while reigniting polarizing debates around XXXTentacion’s tragic death. Such theories are rooted in Reddit threads and fan pages, not actual facts. The suspects involved in the killing were shown on surveillance footage following XXX as he shopped for a bike before ultimately ambushing him in a botched robbery on June 18th, 2018.
