Yara Shahidi Could Be Landing Her Own Black-ish Spin Off

Word around the rumor mill is that Black-ish could be getting its own spin-off show focused around Yara Shahidi’s character.

According to Deadline, ABC is working with the show’s creator, Kenya Barris, on a show that will focus on Shahidi’s character, Zoey Johnson, in college. Could this be Zoey’s version of A Different World? Quite possibly.

This season, to bolster her applications, Zoey’s dad Dre, played by Anthony Anderson, got her an internship at Teen Vogue. Since the show’s creators are eyeing a spin-off, that must mean that Zoey does exceptionally well and ends up in college. Barris, alongside former Black-ish showrunner Larry Wilmore, are looking to introduce the new comedy as a backdoor pilot in the spring.

No scripts or deals are in place just yet. Would you watch a Yara Shahidi Black-ish spin off?
