From her early days on Black-ish to her current role in Grown-ish, Yara Shahidi has blossomed into a remarkable young woman before our eyes.
Similarly, Trevor Jackson has transitioned from his Disney Channel days to becoming a music sensation and starring as Aaron in Grown-ish. Shahidi and Jackson reflected on their transformative journey throughout the franchise in an exclusive interview with Baller Alert.
“Being in both Black-ish and Grown-ish means I’ve been Zoey Johnson for 10 years,” Shahidi shared. “I’ve experienced so many milestones – from being an actor to a lead actor, producer, and executive producer. And then being an actual college student in real life and learning how to drive. All of those things happened on set.”
She expressed how having a nurturing environment to grow has been a life-changing experience, highlighting how both casts are like family, always supporting and uplifting each other.
Jackson echoed similar sentiments about his growth on the show, emphasizing the importance of patience and living in the moment. “Learning to appreciate each milestone and accomplishment has been key for me,” he expressed. “I used to be so focused on the next thing, but now I’ve learned to cherish the present.”
As Grown-ish approaches its final season, both Shahidi and Jackson are grateful for the experience. According to Shahidi, passing the torch to Junior for the final run was always the plan. “The fact that my TV brother came in to take the reins is the best thing I could’ve asked for,” she added with a smile.
