Ye’s “Cease and Desist” to Kim Kardashian Over Kids Is a Hoax, Source Confirms

A headline-grabbing cease and desist letter that accused Kim Kardashian of exploiting her and the rapper formerly known as Kanye West’s four children has now been confirmed to be a total hoax

On Friday, TMZ broke the story that a cease and desist letter supposedly sent from Ye’s “attorney,” Kathy Johnson, was making the rounds online. The document accused Kim of violating their custody agreement and using their daughter North for commercial gain, referencing her appearance at this year’s Met Gala.

But upon closer inspection, things didn’t add up.

The letter claimed to be from JB Law Firm in Palma, Spain — a firm that, according to TMZ’s investigation, doesn’t seem to exist. There’s a firm by that name in the Canary Islands, but its website doesn’t work and the listed phone number leads nowhere. On top of that, it’s unclear if this attorney is even licensed to practice in California, where any custody matter would need to be addressed.

More bizarrely, the letter claimed Johnson was also representing Kanye’s wife, Bianca Censori — though she has no legal standing in any custody arrangement with Kim.

TMZ reached out to both sides. A source close to Kim confirmed that her legal team, led by Laura Wasser, never received such a letter and treated it as a publicity stunt. And Kanye’s own camp made it crystal clear: he had nothing to do with it, calling the letter “a hoax.”

The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2021, share joint custody of their four children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — with Ye reportedly paying $200,000 a month in child support.
