Texas rapper Yella Beezy was arrested Saturday on gun charges, but he feels like it was a set up by the police.
Police stopped Beezy for a traffic infraction in Dallas —they said he was running stop signs— and they searched his car. During the search, they found an unlicensed gun in the vehicle.
His manager, Adrian Low Brown, told TMZ that the rapper was on his way to bring his girlfriend flowers for Valentine’s Day when he got stopped. The police said they smelled weed, giving them a reason to search the armor-plated—bullet-proof SUV. The officers did not find any marijuana in the car. Beezy says that he doesn’t even smoke weed.
Beezy denies having any unregistered weapons. His manager is currently trying to bail him out.Â
Video footage of the police searching the SUV surfaced online.
