Rock band Yellowcard is carrying on with their lawsuit against Juice Wrld despite the young rapper’s untimely death on Dec. 8.

Following his death, the case had been placed on hold. However, court documents obtained by XXL Mag on Tuesday, explained that the case will continue.

Peter Mosely, Ryan Key, Sean Wellman-Mackin, and Longineu Parson, members of Yellowcard, made claims back in October that Juice Wrld sampled elements from the 2006 songs, ‘Holly Wood Died’ for his hit breakout single, ‘Lucid Dreams’ which was produced by Nick Mira in 2017. The song has since gone six-times platinum.

The band filed a motion to extend the amount of time for Juice Wrld’s co-defendants Taz Taylor, Nick Mira, and Juice’s two labels, Grade A Productions, and Interscope Records, to respond to the complaint filed against them. The first due date for the defendants’ response to the lawsuit was Dec. 9, but it has since been pushed back until Feb. 4, 2020.

Richard Busch, who is representing Yellowcard in the case, spoke with Digital Music News and stated that Yellowcard put the litigation for the case on hold following Juice Wrld’s shocking death. He said the group wanted to “digest” the news of Juice Wrld’s death.

Juice Wrld died earlier this month after the 21-year-old suffered a seizure at the Chicago Midway International Airport. It was later reported that the rapper allegedly ingested multiple Percocet pills to hide them from authorities while they searched his luggage, which contained 70 pounds of weed as well as six bottles of liquid prescriptions codeine cough syrup.

The Chicago-born-and-raised rapper just turned 21 on Dec. 2.
