Just after YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen were arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the death of their close friends earlier this month, the #Florida rapper has been reportedly considered a suspect in the shooting death of an Indian River County sheriff deputy.
According to Florida news outlet Vero News, Melly and YNW Bortlen are both allegedly suspects in the 2017 death of deputy Gary Chambliss. “After that shooting in Miramar, our detectives will be following up for possible information in connection to the Garry Chambliss homicide,” Capt. Tony Consalo told reporters. “Perhaps, given their current situation, they might be able to shed some light on the case.”
Investigators believe both men were involved in the shooting death of the off-duty deputy and claim that Melly and Bortlen were allegedly at the scene of the shooting, in which one of them fired the shot that ultimately killed Chambliss. Melly and Bortlen are accused of “standing in a group and firing gunshots” when Chambliss was hit by a stray bullet.
