York County Coroner Says Sixth Person Has Died Following Mass Shooting Carried Out By Former NFL Player Phillip Adams

A sixth person has died following the mass shooting that occurred earlier this week.

According to York County Coroner Sabrina Gast, Robert Shook, an air conditioning technician, has died. Shook initially survived the shooting that took the lives of a doctor, his wife, their two young grandchildren, and another air conditioning technician on Wednesday.

According to CNN, Shook died on Saturday afternoon.

The six victims were killed by former NFL player Phillip Adams, 32. Adams shot the two technicians before forcing his way inside the home and killing Doctor Robert Lesslie, his wife, Barbara Lesslie, and their two grandchildren, ages 5 and 9.

Authorities released the name of James Lewis, the first technician who died at the scene. He was found dead outside the home.

Upon arrival, police discovered Shook alive. He was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He underwent several surgeries but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

“We are all heartbroken. Please keep his family in your prayers tonight and in the coming days as we all face this together,” Shook’s employer, GSM Services, said in a statement Saturday. The company also employed Lewis.

Adams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found by police in the bedroom of a nearby home that he shared with his parents.

According to York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson, a motive for the murder is still unknown.

“There’s nothing about this right now that makes sense to any of us,” the sheriff said.

The doctor’s four children released a statement regarding the loss of their family members: “While we know there are no answers that will satisfy the question ‘why,’ we are sure of one thing: we do not grieve as those without hope. Our hope is found in the promise of Jesus Christ, and we are enveloped by peace that surpasses all understanding.”
