Young Buck Claims He Isn't Responsible For Physical Altercation With Afroman's Crew

Young Buck On Parting Ways With Cash Money Amid Label’s Early Success

Young Buck recently sat down for an interview with VladTV, explaining his departure from Cash Money. The rapper signed to the label when he was 14 years old. At the time, the brand was small and did not have a mainstream buzz.

Cash Money signed an 80-20 distribution deal with Universal Records, and the rest was history. At the time, Juvenile, Lil Wayne, and the Hot Boys also graced the label’s roster.”We were off the races,” Buck said.

Unfortunately, Birdman and Cash Money weren’t so effective in managing the newfound success. Young Buck felt that his career and development were being ignored as a result.

“I was getting lost,” he continued. “I think with all the success that was coming with them, and Baby having to stay—and I understand it now. At the time, I really didn’t understand it. … Baby was basically chasing the success with the artists that was actually winning. I don’t think he was looking to take the time to get another artist established when he already got a group that’s doing so much.”

Buck decided to leave the label. After returning to his hometown Nashville, Tennessee, he began to create his buzz. His marketing tactics helped him gain the attention of the music industry and G-Unit.
