A suspect indicted in the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph has pleaded not guilty in his first court appearance.
On Thursday, Hernandez Govan appeared before a judge at the Shelby County Criminal Court. Govan was arrested in November 2021 and is the third suspect charged in the case.
Last week, Govan was hit with charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder by a grand jury.
“Mr. Govan has been indicted and is in custody for being involved in the Young Dolph murderer,” Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy previously said. “He played the role of the person who solicited the murder.”
According to authorities, Govan is the person responsible for ordering the hit out on Dolph. However, Govan’s first-degree murder charges date back to July 2021, which means he allegedly planned the murder months in advance.
Govan is expected to return back to the courtroom on December 16th.
