Young Thug is officially ready to get back into the studio now that his legal troubles are mostly behind her.
A confirmation arrived on Wednesday, with Thug directing fans to a designated site for the imminent “UY Scuti,” which takes its name from the supergiant star located roughly 9,500 lightyears from our planet.
“It’s time. Red Planet,” Thug tweeted, alongside the cosmic “UY SCUTI” logo. Several physical options for the new album are available now, including vinyl, CD, and merch bundles. One standout is the “WHAT WOULD BRIAN DO” boxed set, a clear nod to attorney Brian Steel, who stood by Thug throughout his controversial Georgia case.

The official cover art features a grayscale image of a person in a coat and beanie, with a silver vinyl peeking out. An alternate version shows three monochrome portraits in a circular layout, layered with abstract textures and a spider motif. Bundle options also include a black “WWBD” tee, a CD featuring a striking portrait, and a box labeled “Young Thug.”
In March, Thug stirred anticipation by rocking a “UY Scuti” jersey courtside at a Heat game with Mariah the Scientist. The timing is fitting. This year, he’s appeared on Lil Baby’s “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber” and Playboi Carti’s “We Need All Da Vibes.” In June, he’s set to hit the stage at Summer Smash, his first performance since being released. Additionally, April marks the 10th anniversary of Thug’s iconic project “Barter 6.”
Day one Thugger fans are hopeful that he will bring along his frequent collaborators such as Future, Drake, and even Gunna. The state of their relationship remains unclear, as many have accused Gunna of being a “snitch.” However, he remains signed to Thug’s Young Stoner Life label, arguably the biggest act on the imprint. In November 2024, a tweet from Thug’s Twitter seemingly confirmed their status, reading, “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know you my guy.” The message was deleted moments later, though several outlets caught the moment. Some have suggested Thug’s Twitter may have been hacked several times throughout his court case, so it’s still unknown if Thug actually sent the tweet. Gunna has not commented publicly on Thug’s announcement.
