The denial came out on Friday despite his attorney’s arguing that Thug was not doing well behind bars. They claim Thug is not getting proper nutrition with the foods he’s being given, causing him to gain weight. The defense also claims the “Lifestyle” star is unable to get adequate sleep, yet another factor that is significantly impacting his well-being. Thug was rushed to the hospital in May, likely for exhaustion, which he had complained about the month prior.
Prosecutors fired back at these claims, stating that Thug would surely intimidate witnesses if he is released. Judge Ural Glanville agreed, believing that the songwriter and CEO is a threat to the community. Thugger will remain behind bars until the trial begins, though there is no timeframe for when that may happen.
The 31-year-old was arrested on May 9th, 2022, for allegedly operating a criminal organization. Prosecutors accuse him of leading a gang disguised as his music imprint, YSL Records. While the trial officially began eight months ago, a jury has not yet been selected in the case. YSL artist Yak Gotti, who is also listed in the RICO, was denied bond as well for similar reasons. Now, the courts are turning their attention to securing jurors, which has been a bleak process. Nearly 1,000 potential jurors have been summoned, yet none have been chosen. Some have requested exemptions due to health issues, child care, or other qualifying reasons to be excused from the trial.
