Young Thug’s lawyers responds to the apartment complex that accused him of “negligence” for his stolen LV bag last year.
JLB Peachtree Management admits to locating the bag but says they’re not responsible for protecting it. Peachtree also argues that Thug’s “negligence and failure to exercise ordinary care” is why the bag was stolen.
Thug’s Louis Vuitton bag contained $40,000 cash, a $37,000 Diamond chain, a $57,000 Diamond watch & a hard drive with unreleased songs worth $1 million.
Thug’s lawyer says that if the company knew who bag it was then they already committed to protecting it.
“The suggestion my client’s negligence, if any, outweighs the defendants’ ignores the simple facts the defendants’ employees acted to secure the property. Knew whose property it was. Committed to keep the property safe in a secure location. Communicated to my client they would keep the property secure, and then released the property to an unknown person,” his lawyer says.
The original lawsuit states the apartment complex became responsible for the whereabouts once it was given to someone else.
“Defendants voluntarily took possession of plaintiff’s property. Notified plaintiff of their possession of his property. And undertook additional efforts to secure it and only return it to a proper party. When defendants released the property to an unknown individual other than plaintiff or plaintiff’s authorized representative. Defendants breached a duty of care to plaintiff which had been created by their actions,” the court documents read.
A spokesperson for Thug says the employee “undertook a duty to safeguard and return the property” when agreed to secure it. Thug is suing for negligence and failure to train employees.
