Young Thug Maintains His Innocence Despite Plea Deal: “Pleading to Something You Know That You Didn’t Do Is Crazy”

Young Thug is opening up about the difficult decision to accept a plea deal in his widely publicized RICO case.

Reflecting on last year’s choice to settle the case and end his lengthy trial, Thugger admits the process was far from easy.

“Absolutely. Just pleading to something you know that you didn’t do is crazy. But you get a chance to keep fighting. [You can] worry about the jury’s fate, or you [can] just go ahead now and go home. It’s like s**t. Go home,” he shared in a GQ profile.

While the plea allowed Thug to regain his freedom, it imposed serious restrictions, including a lengthy probation period and a ban on his presence in the metro Atlanta area. He also faces limits on his lyrical content, something fans online have expressed concern about.

“I can’t do nothing like gang things or stuff like that on the internet,” the 33-year-old explained. “I can really talk about what I want to talk about in music…But most of the time I don’t rap about that type of stuff.”

Thugger also called the Atlanta ban “abuse,” highlighting the extent of the restrictions. His ongoing frustration is apparent, especially as he prepares for the release of his highly anticipated album, “Uy Scuti.” It will be interesting to see how well he can dodge all talk of street life to ensure compliance with his probation terms.
