The rapper explained that being transparent about one’s sexuality is essential to him in male friendships, and he considers concealing it a serious breach of trust.
During the conversation, which attracted over one million views in just a day, Thug elaborated on how this affects his perception of others.
“Once you rat or once you turn gay,” he began. “I don’t got nothing against gay people, it’s gay people that work for me. But when I look at you in a certain way. If I meet you and you’re gay, it’s like okay. If I meet you and you are portraying that you’re a man and you’re not gay… I can’t look at you the same.”
Young Thug described situations where he forms bonds under the assumption that both parties share a particular understanding of masculinity.
“If I look at you like a man, and we f**king b***ches together, girls together, and we doing certain s**t, and I look at you in a man light and then I find out you gay, there ain’t really nothing you can say to me,” he added.
He also clarified that his concerns are not about sexuality itself. His focus is on honesty, emphasizing that transparency is critical to maintaining trust and mutual understanding in friendships.
