Young Thug’s famed lawyer is now part of Diddy’s criminal defense team.
In a surprising move, attorney Brian Steel filed a motion to represent the embattled mogul, according to documents shared by legal journalist Meghann Cuniff on Tuesday.
“Here’s something I didn’t expect to write: Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel has joined Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ criminal defense team,” Cuniff tweeted.

Steel is best known for representing Thug, in the high-profile YSL RICO case. In that trial, he famously clashed with the court over attorney-client privilege.
“On June 10, 2024, I was held in contempt by a Superior Court Judge in Fulton County, Georgia in State of Georgia v. Jeffery Williams et al., Case Number 22SC 183 572 when the judge wrongfully ordered that I reveal privileged information,” Steel wrote in a statement included in the Diddy filing.

His addition to Diddy’s legal team signals a potential shift in strategy as the music mogul faces increasing legal scrutiny. Diddy has also reportedly sought out a Black woman attorney to join the high-powered team as well to help him beat racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
