A California Youtuber claims he stumbled upon an extraordinary piece of music history in an abandoned storage unit he purchased for $280.

Inside the unit, amidst several forgotten belongings, Prieto Hunters discovered a gleaming Grammy Award engraved with Roddy Ricch’s name. The award commemorates Ricch’s win for Best Rap Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards for the chart-topping track “Racks in the Middle,” which he performed alongside Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy.
The discovery raises questions about how the award ended up in the storage unit. Personal items in the small room hinted that it may have once belonged to Roddy or someone connected to him in the music industry. Grammy Awards are traditionally non-transferable and often considered the property of the recipient or the Recording Academy. The content creator zoomed in on the trophy, which lists Roddy, Nipsey, and Hit-Boy’s names. Additionally, he also showed a Pizza Hut card with Roddy’s name on it.
For now, the man plans to safeguard the award while seeking further guidance. Prieto Hunters has racked up thousands of views for purchasing abandoned storage units and documenting the findings. He says he is willing to “work something out” with Roddy to return the trophy, hinting that he will give up the gold for a fee.
Roddy Ricch and the Recording Academy have not yet commented on the situation.
