There are reports that YSL’s Yak Gotti was the target of a jail stabbing.
Gotti, formally known as Deamonte Kendrick, is one of 28 YSL members indicted on racketeering charges in the RICO case against Young Thug and Gunna’s collective, Complex reported.
Prosecutors claim the defendants are a “criminal street gang.”
According to George Chidi, a reporter for The Atlanta Objective, Yak Gotti was almost a victim of a stabbing while behind bars earlier this month.
“In court now. I am told by the mother of Deamonte Kitchens – Yak Gotti – that someone tried to stab him Saturday in the Fulton County jail,” Chidi posted on Twitter Thursday.
The reported attack comes a few months after Yak Gotti was accused of cooperating with prosecutors to help a criminal case against Young Thug and YSL.
Apparently, during Yak’s bond hearing early this summer, it was said that the prosecution was focusing on a 2015 incident involving Lil Duke and said Yak had confessed he had given Duke a gun to retaliate against a local gang.
The Gotti Outta Here rapper later denied the allegations on Instagram, writing: “2015 my brudda never did a day in jail because I claimed my shit. I did 4 years fed with no tears! Stop the [cap].”
Yak was denied bond because he was caught using a cell phone while in jail (which is prohibited). Prosecutors claimed he was making calls to people on the outside and demanding they destroy “a cache” of burner cell phones. However, those phones were reportedly obtained by authorities before they were destroyed.
Both Gunna and Young Thug were denied bond on three separate occasions. They will remain behind bars until trial.
