A Georgia judge has postponed YSL’s racketeering trial until the upcoming year.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville has announced that the trial will reconvene on January 2. This decision was made during a brief session on Tuesday, marking the trial’s second consecutive day of interruptions after Shannon Stillwell was stabbed on Sunday night during a confrontation with another inmate at the Rice Street Jail.
Following the stabbing incident, Stillwell was hospitalized, as reported by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in a news release on Monday. His attorney provided an update on Tuesday, stating that Stillwell is recovering and regaining strength. However, Judge Glanville informed the jury that due to an ongoing medical issue affecting one of the trial participants, he immediately decided to recess for the holidays instead of the initially planned recess on Friday.
“Unfortunately, that medical condition still exists, and given the length of time that we’re going to have to probably address that, it might be just more prudent to recess you,” Glanville said.
The judge strongly advised the jurors not to engage in any discussions about the trial during the holiday break. He urged them to refrain from the temptation to converse with family members and encouraged them to promptly notify the court if anyone attempts to approach them regarding the case. Furthermore, Judge Glanville recommended that the jurors steer clear of news coverage related to the trial and abstain from using social media platforms throughout the trial’s proceedings.
