Former NFL player Zac Stacy’s ex-girlfriend Kristen Evans claims therapy has helped him turn his life around after he attacked her twice in 2021.
On Tuesday, she addressed his 6-month jail sentence in an Instagram post, saying that incarceration would not provide him with the necessary resources to get better.
According to Evans, Stacy sought cognitive behavioral therapy, which resulted in a “significant adjustment in his behavior and communication.”
She explained, “over the last six months, he’s consistently shown an improvement, as well as our son enjoys spending time with him.”
Evans added that she was against sending him to jail because it could affect their children’s mental health.
“So please give me some grace in understanding that I’m not being easy on Zac, rather, I am trying to protect our son from any more trauma,” she said.Evans believes Stacy’s head injury from his football career played a role in his past actions, and she is willing to give him a second chance.
On Instagram, many commenters have urged her to reconsider her forgiveness for the benefit of her family.
Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Stacy reached a plea deal with prosecutors in Orange County, Fla., and was sentenced to one year of probation and jail time.
