As we previously reported, 17 year old Zendaya Coleman has been cast to play Aaliyah in an upcoming biopic coming this Fall to the Lifetime Network. Though many have their opinion as to whether or not Zendaya can make it happen, she remains both confident and grateful.
“I’m just a 17 year old girl who got cast to play one of her biggest inspirations. She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her and show how much she accomplished in only 22 years. She’s beautiful inside and there will never be another Aaliyah. I just hope to share her beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven.”
I actually grew up a huge fan (See: Stan) of Aaliyah myself. I think it’s really cool to see Zendaya play the role. She has a huge following amongst younger kids. It’ll be great to see her story/legacy told to a generation that wasn’t even born when she died.
