The federal judge handed R&B singer R. Kelly his near-life sentence and has no mercy. In addition to serving 30 years in prison, he is ordered to complete sexual disorder therapy.
The Chicago native faces 30 years in prison, and if/when he gets out, things won’t be any easier in his 80s. After his release, Judge Ann M. Donnelly ordered mental health treatment for the singer. The treatment will include therapy for an unspecified sexual disorder, and he must avoid all contact with anyone under the age of 18.
The biggest threat remained for the singer is that he is still a menace to society, according to prosecutors. This stems from his continued sex misconduct after standing his trial in Chicago. The judge took into account his repetitive behaviors.
After his release, Kelly must tell anyone that chooses to live with him that he is a sex offender.
TMZ reports that the disgraced singer will only be allowed to be around someone under the age of 18 if it’s a family member, or if it’s in a therapeutic setting with a ‘responsible adult’ present. This also goes for associating with convicted sex offenders. Any other scenario would have to be approved by his probation officer.
Kelly will also remain under supervision for five years after he’s released. Though it seems like this is the end, the artist still awaits a federal trial and two other state trials. If he’s convicted, he’ll face even more restrictions.
