Shedeur Sanders’ NFL career got off to a rocky start Sunday, and it wasn’t just because of what happened on the field.
While the rookie quarterback was suiting up for the Cleveland Browns and taking his first snaps in the pros, thieves were busy breaking into his Ohio home. According to officials who spoke with TMZ Sports, three masked suspects entered the residence just before 7 PM. Surveillance footage showed them moving through several rooms before they made off with property valued at around $200,000. They reportedly exited the scene by 6:58 PM.
Police confirmed the burglary is still under active investigation.
Sanders had been unexpectedly thrust into the game after Browns starter Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion. He threw for 47 yards, completing four passes in a losing effort against the Baltimore Ravens.
“The performance was not up to my standard,” Sanders admitted after the game.
Now the young quarterback faces a tough week. With Gabriel’s status uncertain, Sanders could get the start this Sunday against the Raiders. But along with preparing for a potential start, he’s also dealing with the violation of his personal space and a major financial hit.
