Spotify is no longer just a destination for your favorite tunes; it’s officially aiming to become your personal trainer.
The streaming powerhouse is pivoting toward its “everything app” goal by launching a dedicated fitness hub that brings guided workouts directly into the platform. Since millions already rely on the app for workout music, Spotify is now providing the actual exercise content to go with it.
This new expansion consolidates instructor-led classes, video sessions, and specialized playlists into one central location. Both Free and Premium members can now access content from major fitness influencers like Chloe Ting and Yoga with Kassandra, alongside boutique brands like Sweaty Studio.
The most significant development is a high-profile collaboration with Peloton. Premium users in specific regions now have the ability to stream over 1,400 on-demand Peloton classes, ranging from high-intensity cardio to restorative meditation, entirely within the Spotify interface. This mirrors the company’s previous successful expansions into the worlds of podcasting and audiobooks by absorbing established industry leaders rather than starting from zero.
According to Spotify, roughly 70% of their Premium subscribers engage in monthly exercise, and the platform already hosts more than 150 million fitness-related playlists. This shift effectively formalizes a behavior that users have practiced for years.
However, the expansion invites a debate over “app fatigue.” As the platform continues to stack music, video podcasts, books, and now full-body workouts into a single feed, the interface risks becoming cluttered. Spotify is betting that users prefer the convenience of an all-in-one lifestyle ecosystem over jumping between specialized apps for their run, their meditation, and their music.
Users can explore the new features by simply searching “fitness” in the app. Whether this becomes a permanent part of the daily routine or just another ignored tab will depend on how many listeners are willing to trade their standalone gym apps for a Spotify-centric workout.
