Taco Bell is officially stepping deeper into the coffee business, and this latest move makes it clear the chain wants more than just late-night taco runs. The company launched its first-ever cold brew lineup on May 21 through select Live Más Café locations, putting Taco Bell directly into the growing fast food coffee competition currently dominated by Starbucks, Dunkin’, and McDonald’s.
The rollout includes a standard Cold Brew alongside three flavored cold foams: Purple Velvet Cream, Caramel Dulce Cream, and Vanilla Cream. According to Taco Bell, the drinks use medium and dark roast Arabica beans sourced from Latin America and are brewed through a slow cold extraction process designed to create a smoother, low-acid flavor profile.
For now, the drinks are only available at Live Más Café locations inside select Taco Bell restaurants in Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Southern California. But the company already hinted that successful drinks tested through the café concept could eventually launch nationwide.
Taco Bell Has Been Quietly Building Its Breakfast Business
While Taco Bell built its reputation around tacos and late-night cravings, the company has spent more than a decade trying to strengthen its breakfast business after launching a national breakfast menu in 2014. Current breakfast staples include the Breakfast Crunchwrap, breakfast burritos, iced coffee drinks, hash browns, and Cinnabon Delights Coffee.
Now, Live Más Café appears to be Taco Bell’s attempt to compete more aggressively in the premium beverage space. The company previously announced a goal of reaching $5 billion in beverage sales by 2030, signaling that drinks are becoming a serious part of the brand’s long-term growth strategy.
“We’ve spent decades building a bold flavor legacy at Taco Bell, and now we’re bringing that same innovative mindset to coffee at Live Más Café,” Taco Bell Global Chief Food Innovation Officer Liz Matthews said in a statement.
Taco Bell Didn’t Stop at Coffee
The coffee launch also arrived with the return of Taco Bell’s fan-favorite Shredded Beef Dipping Taco, inspired by birria-style beef tacos traditionally served with dipping broth. The chain also introduced new Shredded Beef Nacho Fries and launched Strawberry Cinnabon Delights nationwide for a limited time.
Between specialty coffee, upgraded breakfast plans, and constant menu experiments, Taco Bell clearly wants customers pulling up for more than tacos.
