Several of Toni Braxton’s hit records are being transformed into feature films, thanks to Lifetime. The R&B legend is both producing and starring in two original movies titled after her chart-topping singles, “He Wasn’t Man Enough” and “Breathe Again.”
The first, “He Wasn’t Man Enough,” premieres November 22nd at 8 p.m. on the network. Braxton portrays bestselling author Mel Montgomery, who finds out her boyfriend is engaged to her estranged college friend, Monica. Essence Atkins and Yvette Nicole Brown co-star as the women team up for an unexpected bond.
Next up is “Breathe Again,” slated for 2026. This production follows three women who find friendship after being rejected on a reality dating show. Alongside Braxton and Atkins, Cree Summer joins the cast. The story takes the trio from heartbreak in Los Angeles to new beginnings in Seattle.
Braxton shared the big news on Instagram, “The secret is FINALLY out! I shot two amazing films with my girls @essence_says, @iamcreesummer & @yvettenicolebrown for @lifetimetv. It was a pleasure working with these talented beauties!”
This isn’t Lifetime’s first music-to-movie venture. The network previously adapted Mary J. Blige’s songs into its own film trilogy.
