LSU football has landed its most high profile addition of the spring, but this recruit is better known for topping the charts than his high school highlight reel.
Rapper Toosii born Nau’jour Grainger has officially traded the stage for the SEC, appearing on the Tigers’ roster as a wide receiver wearing No. 89.
The transition marks a full circle moment for Grainger, who was a standout athlete at Rolesville High School in North Carolina before putting his football dreams on ice to pursue a music career. After reaching multi platinum success, the artist decided to return to the gridiron in late 2025. He initially committed to Syracuse, but the union was short lived. Before the start of spring practice, Grainger decided to leave the Orange behind and enrolled at LSU under head coach Lane Kiffin.
On Tuesday, the “Favorite Song” rapper made his practice debut in Baton Rouge, where he was spotted hauling in passes from quarterback Husan Longstreet. The move has quickly become the talk of college football, as Kiffin continues to build a roster that blends traditional talent with massive star power.
While many questioned if a recording artist could handle the rigors of Division I ball, Grainger seems locked in on the challenge.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see if the musical talent translates to Saturday success. LSU is currently gearing up for a high stakes season opener against Clemson, scheduled for Saturday, September 5.
