Ye is making waves again with his new project “Bully,” and he’s getting deep into how his personal life ties back to the Civil Rights Movement.

On the track “King,” he talks about his marriage to Australian architect Bianca Censori, giving a major shout-out to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for breaking down the legal walls that once kept couples like them apart.
He doesn’t hold back on the history behind his relationship, rapping: “I brought a white queen to the altar/Couldn’t happen without Martin Luther.”
It’s a direct nod to the 1960s when Dr. King was leading the fight against segregation. While the 1967 Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court case is what officially ended the ban on interracial marriage, King was actually talking about this a decade earlier. Back in 1957, he wrote a column for Ebony saying, “There is nothing morally wrong with an interracial marriage,” even though he knew there were huge “social obstacles” in the way at the time.
By bringing up Dr. King, Ye is adding some serious context to his life right now, comparing his marriage today to the barriers that used to be the norm in America.
This isn’t the first time his dating life has crossed racial lines; he was married to Kim Kardashian, who has Armenian, Scottish, and Dutch roots, and has been linked to Julia Fox and Irina Shayk.
