Michelle Rodriguez, best known for her role in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, is speaking out in defense of her “Widows” co-star Liam Neeson, and she’s using Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis to plead her case.
“It’s all fuckin’ bullshit. Liam Neeson is not racist” Rodriguez told Vanity Fair at the amfAR Gala in New York when asked about Neeson’s recent racist admission about killing “some black bastard” in support of his close friend who’d been raped by a black person.
“Dude, have you watched ‘Widow?'” Rodriguez continued. “His tongue was so far down Viola Davis’ throat. You can’t call him a racist ever. Racists don’t make out with the race that they hate, especially in the way he does with his tongue – so deep down her throat. I don’t care how good of an actor you are. It’s all bullshit. Ignore it. He’s not racist. He’s a loving man. It’s all lies.”
Despite Rodriguez’s attempt to defend her friend, she ultimately relit the flame under her own feet, as many slammed her for her outlandish hot take.
“Ummm to assert power over slaves, white slave owners raped black women and girls. I feel stupid having to actually point this out. But it needed to be said,” one user wrote.
“Gina and Michelle Rodriguez related? Cuz their commentary on race matters and blackness appear to be,” another said.
“The Puerto Rican delegation would like to kick Michelle Rodriguez out. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?” Another wrote, while Shonda Rhimes added, “The lack of historical context, bias blindness and willful ignorance required to open one’s mouth and say this about racism is mind boggling.”
