Nipsey Hussle’s brother Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom is battling against the Crips street gang over the late rapper’s popular slogan #TheMarathonContinues.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, #BlaccSam filed an application on May 28 to trademark the Hussle’s slogan “The Marathon Continues,” for the purpose of using it for business endeavors, music and “charitable activities and the doing of good deeds for others and the promotion of ethical and character values.” This all comes after Sam Samm was named the administrator over Hussle’s estate so that he would be able to manage all incoming business opportunities, such as an upcoming collaboration with Puma.

However, the Crips have also taken an interest in trademarking the saying and filed their application two weeks prior to Samm’s on May 16. The Crips filed the application through their holding company. The gang says it intends to use “TMC” to promote charitable events in the community and target “gang intervention.

The applications do not reference one another, but once the U.S. Patent & Trademark officials notice there are two filings, the decision on who is truly the rightful owner of the saying will be made. The story is still developing.
