Diddy Out of Solitary and Placed in General Population at FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania

Sean “Diddy” Combs is out of solitary confinement and living in general population at FCI Allenwood, the Pennsylvania prison he was moved to last week, according to TMZ.

The move puts Diddy back around other inmates for the first time since he was pulled into the Special Housing Unit at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. The Special Housing Unit, often called the SHU, is a locked down section of a prison that keeps inmates away from the general population for disciplinary or security reasons.

His spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, chose his words carefully. “If this information is accurate, we’re pleased to hear that Sean has returned to general population,” he told TMZ. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed his housing status and says it does not discuss conditions of confinement for anyone in its custody.

The report is a turnaround from what sources told Deadline just days earlier: that Combs would stay in solitary for the immediate future once he arrived at FCI Allenwood.

The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Combs was transferred to FCI Allenwood Low on Friday, October 16, but would not say why. Both prisons are low security facilities for men, so the move was not a step up in security level. The big difference is size. FCI Allenwood Low holds about 1,000 inmates. Fort Dix houses more than 4,000 across two campuses. With a smaller population, staff can keep a much closer eye on him, even in gen pop.

Engelmayer previously said the transfer “is consistent with a decision made with safety and security in mind.”

Combs’ time at Fort Dix got messy fast. In September, NBC News reported that he was still living like a mogul behind bars. The report described Hennessy smuggled in, fellow inmates cooking, cleaning and making his bed, massages, and a contraband cellphone he allegedly used to scroll social media and look at an ex girlfriend’s nude photos. He was placed in the SHU after that report.

NBC also reported, citing a union official, that Combs lost 41 days of good conduct time for disruptive behavior. Union official Jose Rojas told TMZ that Combs’ disciplinary record listed fights on July 31 and September 30, along with phone violations.

Then came reports of a head injury. TMZ reported that Combs was hurt in a fight with another inmate and taken out of the prison for treatment. In a rare public rebuttal, the Bureau of Prisons disputed that report and denied claims that his injury came from a fight with Jamaican drug lord Christopher Coke. Engelmayer said the team had no verified information that Combs was attacked or injured.

Combs was originally placed at Fort Dix so he could take part in a drug treatment program that offered a chance to shorten his sentence. It is not yet clear whether he can continue that program at FCI Allenwood or whether the transfer affects his eligibility.

Allenwood Low has housed other high profile inmates, including former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez and former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli.

Combs is serving a 50 month sentence after a jury convicted him in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the most serious charges, sex trafficking and racketeering, and is asking a federal appeals court to overturn his conviction and release him.
