When She Found the One, Her Brother Found the Floor

A Virginia bride’s wedding day took an unexpected turn when her brother fainted at the altar during her vows. The viral moment has now racked up more than 11 million views and has social media talking.

The bride, Jazmine, and her husband, JB, first met in high school and reconnected years later as adults. The two fell in love, and JB proposed on Thanksgiving in 2024 with both of their families there.

“He was everything that I was looking for in a partner,” Jazmine told Baller Alert in an exclusive interview.

The couple had a clear vision for their wedding day. They wanted the celebration to feel elegant, elevated, grown, and sexy. Getting to the big day, though, came with a few bumps.

The original host hotel, where some guests were staying, suddenly closed because of a water main break, leaving the bride and groom scrambling for an alternative. The wedding party also ran a little late. Still, Jazmine made it to the altar, ready to marry the man she loved. That’s when the plot twist happened.

Phillip, Jazmine’s younger brother and a groomsman, stood with the wedding party as his sister recited her vows. He was proud of her, but he was also fighting the urge to faint. By the end of her vows, he lost that battle and went down.

With Jazmine and JB still standing at the altar, the bride’s mind started racing. Was Phillip OK? Was he about to die? She told Baller Alert those questions flooded her brain as panic set in. As family and friends rushed to help her brother, Jazmine became hysterical and cried uncontrollably while her husband, the pastor, the wedding planner, and others consoled her.

The entire incident was caught on camera, and Jazmine posted it online. Of course, the internet immediately had questions and opinions. Some people said Phillip fainted on purpose. Others claimed Jazmine’s reaction to her brother’s medical emergency was a red flag. The comments split between scrutiny and support.

According to the family, there was no drama behind the moment her brother fainted. Phillip was simply dehydrated, overheated, and running on empty. He told Baller Alert he is a firefighter, a husband, and a father, and he had been working on the house he is building in the days before the wedding.

“It was hot. I hadn’t really drunk much water. Didn’t eat between work and working on the house,” Phillip said. “I was dehydrated. I hadn’t been keeping up. Rookie move.”

Phillip said he knew he was fading but tried to hold on through Jazmine’s vows. Once his vision started going and his hearing became “muffled,” he knew he might be “going down.”

Hearing her brother’s explanation, Jazmine added, “I was scared, and I didn’t want to see him die.”

Fortunately, several of the people who rushed to Phillip’s side were firefighters and nurses, including his wife. Jazmine said she knew he was in good hands. “I wouldn’t have known what to do,” she said.

JB appeared to be the calmest person in the video. He said his priority was making sure Jazmine was OK. He also figured the heat, Phillip’s black tuxedo, and the day’s activities had caught up with him.

Despite the interruption, Jazmine and JB still said “I do,” and Phillip recovered and got right back to the celebration. For Jazmine, the day her brother fainted is now just another unforgettable part of her wedding story.

“I love my brother. I love my family, and I had a beautiful wedding, even though that happened,” she said. “It’s all a memory, and it’s all a laugh.”

As for the family’s next big gathering, JB told Baller Alert that Thanksgiving is coming up and his wife is cooking. Phillip already has a feeling that one might come with its own drama and a story to tell.
