Remember When These BET Shows Were the Best Thing in Music Television?

BET 106 & Park

As fans continue to plead for the return of ‘106 & Park,’ BET’s President and CEO Scott Mills might be granting that wish very soon. In a recent interview with ‘The Breakfast Club‘ morning show, Mills shared details surrounding the potential reboot, emphasizing the importance of the show’s long-standing legacy.

“We understand people love 106 & Park,” Mills said. “The fact that it doesn’t work as a linear television show doesn’t mean it’s over. We can bring 106 & Park back as a podcast. We can bring it back as a digital experience.”

However, according to Mills, BET has revamped ‘106 & Park’ with the evolved version set to debut sometime this year, coinciding with the show’s 25th anniversary.

“We are evolving what 106 & Park will look like in 2025 because it does have that very important role,” he continued. “We’ve got a number of really exciting executions. We’re approaching the 25th anniversary of 106 & Park, so there’ll be some things that y’all will really be excited about.”

Additionally, singer Chloe Bailey was guest-hosting during the episode and also chimed into the conversation to share her fond memories of the beloved show.

“For me, I grew up loving 106 & Park,” Bailey said. “That was the show for me to be inspired, to get excited. I’d run home from school and that’s what I would put on. BET has always had a special place in my heart.”

‘106 & Park’ originally premiered on September 11, 2000 and instantly became a cultural staple, running for 3,710 episodes before its final airing in 2014.
