According to the Associated Press, Stiviano is 31 and lives in Los Angeles. Court records show she was born Maria Vanessa Perez and petitioned to change her name to V. Stiviano in 2010.
TMZ published the recording in which a woman identified as Stiviano is heard speaking with Sterling. She has been the subject of a lawsuit filed in March by Sterling’s wife, Rochelle Sterling. The suit alleges that Stiviano received more than $2.5 million in gifts from her husband, including a Ferrari, two Bentleys, a Range Rover and a duplex purchased in December for nearly $1.8 million. Rochelle Sterling is asking a judge to return those items to the family.
Stiviano’s attorney has denied that Sterling was taken advantage of.
Her name also appeared as a director of the Donald T. Sterling Charitable Foundation in a 2011 luncheon advertisement, according to the Los Angeles Times. She is not listed in an official role in the foundation’s tax filings from 2010 to 2012.
