Josh Duggar, the oldest child on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” has resigned from his job at the Family Research Council after reports surfaced about his teenage years. According to Daily Mail and In Touch Weekly, a police report from 2006 describes allegations that when Josh was a young teenager he inappropriately touched several girls.
The reports say the family and church leaders dealt with the situation privately at the time and that authorities were brought in later. Josh is now 27, and no charges have been reported. The Duggar family has said Josh apologized to those affected and that they forgave him.
Josh addressed the story in a public statement. He said that as a young teenager he “acted inexcusably,” that he is deeply sorry and regrets it, and that his parents arranged counseling for him and for those affected. He also said he sought forgiveness from the people he hurt.
The reports have drawn heavy media attention over the past couple of days, and Josh stepped down from the Family Research Council as a result. Josh is married with children of his own.
