An Indiana man has been charged in the shooting deaths of three people over four days, and a witness told police he said he was going on a “purge,” according to NBC News.

Johnathan, 19, was charged with felony murder in the deaths of Billy and Jay on May 12 and Jose on May 15, according to NBC News and the Washington Post. Prosecutors said the victims appeared to have been chosen at random. He also faces robbery and weapons related counts and was being held on $200,000 bail.

According to the reports, a juvenile witness told police that Johnathan boasted about going on a “purge.” Investigators said the comment appeared to refer to the 2013 movie “The Purge,” in which the government allows crime without punishment for one night.

An initial hearing on the murder counts was scheduled for Thursday in Indianapolis. Johnathan was already in custody on separate charges tied to a disputed transaction, according to the reports. Everyone charged is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and Baller Alert has no response from him at this time.
