Lil Baby addressed the Gunna feud in a new interview, explaining that their strained relationship does not have to become a public spectacle. Speaking on The New York Times’ Popcast, the Atlanta rapper made it clear that personal disagreements should stay between the people involved, even when both are major names in the music industry, after Gunna’s name was brought up.

“Whether I like them or they like me, it’s like we all gonna be on that personal vibe,” Lil Baby said. “We can not like each other, but we gonna play it cool for y’all, you know what I’m saying? It’s like an unspoken thing.”His comments suggest that being respectful in public does not necessarily mean a friendship has been repaired. For Lil Baby, maintaining distance and avoiding unnecessary confrontation can exist at the same time.
He also questioned why disagreements between artists increasingly become public entertainment.
“It’s like a new thing now I see like, people be going at each other and stuff, like, we ain’t really on that. We got a problem? We can handle our problem off the internet, in person, just us.”
Lil Baby explained that he would rather address personal problems privately than participate in online exchanges that could damage reputations. He also brought Atlanta into the conversation, acknowledging the influence he and Gunna have had on the city’s music scene.

“I’d rather have that beef or problem personally because we’re… really like the ones who hold it down for the town,” he continued.
The Gunna feud has remained a subject of discussion because the two artists previously formed one of hip-hop’s most successful partnerships. Their collaborative mixtape, “Drip Harder,” arrived in 2018 and produced the massive hit “Drip Too Hard,” which eventually earned diamond certification for reaching 10 million units in sales and streaming equivalents.
Their success helped establish both rappers as prominent voices in Atlanta’s new generation of artists. They frequently collaborated, shared musical chemistry, and appeared positioned to continue releasing records together.
However, their relationship reportedly deteriorated following Gunna’s involvement in the YSL racketeering case.
In December 2022, Gunna entered an Alford plea to a racketeering conspiracy charge, allowing him to plead guilty while maintaining his innocence. He was subsequently released from custody. Gunna has repeatedly denied cooperating against Young Thug or other defendants, despite accusations that circulated following his plea agreement.
The Gunna feud became increasingly public as listeners began examining Lil Baby’s lyrics, concert appearances, and interviews for possible references to his former collaborator.
In December 2024, Lil Baby addressed their relationship during an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, confirming that the two no longer had a relationship. He also expressed doubt about the possibility of recording new music together.
His latest remarks do not indicate that the situation has been resolved. Instead, Lil Baby appears focused on preventing their differences from becoming an ongoing public confrontation.
He did not explain the specific personal issues between them or announce plans to reconnect. His comments centered on how artists with unresolved problems should conduct themselves when they share the same industry and hometown.
The history between the former collaborators remains significant. Earlier this year, Gunna reflected positively on the creative chemistry behind “Drip Too Hard” during a Billboard interview, recalling how naturally their contributions came together.
Meanwhile, Lil Baby is prepping for the November 6 release of his upcoming album, “Fresh.” The 17-track project includes appearances from Future, Young Thug, Rylo Rodriguez, Bally Baby and Fatt Smaxk, but Gunna is absent from the announced guest lineup.
